Warner Bros. releases new ‘Hobbit’ stills

Gandalf in the Hobbit

E! Online has posted three new stills from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey just released from Warner Bros.

The new images feature Gandalf the Grey in the Shire, the Dwarves traveling along what appears to be a treacherous mountain path, and everyone’s favorite baddie whom you can’t help feeling sorry for, Gollum.

The Hobbit, which was originally planned as two movies, will now be done in three after director Peter Jackson announced that they had enough material to flesh the story out more. The added material comes by way of the Appendix in the book the Return of the King, which Jackson and company have the rights to use.

The first installment of the trilogy will be The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey which will show in theaters in the US on December 14th (worldwide December 13th). The second installment originally had been planned as The Hobbit: There and Back Again, but will most likely be used as the title for the third movie. Other titles speculated for the second installment include The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies.
